Search Algorithms – Everchanging, Living Things

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

The more I read and listen, the more I see how search engine optimization changes. Just as you get your website close to being perfect he algorithms seem to evolve and once again the site you spent days and nights building and perfecting became obsolete.

Google Page Rank, I hear, doesn’t mean much any more. Now the hot stuff is links, quality links that is. Search Engine Roundtable did a really nice job covering the SES 2007 in New York, you can read all that was talked about on this page: Search Engine Strategies ’07 New York Session Coverage Roundup. The session I found very informative is Link building strategies, I am having a hard time developing a plan for my link building. When I heard link building I though, “No problem…”, then after reading this article, my plans shattered. Apparently mutual linking is worthless now. Link building is link begging. :)

To look at if from another point of view, if you have worthy content (which we all should have), the link building should be happening organicaly.
So that is going to be my new plan.

1. Create worthy content.
2. Publish the content in places like Reddit.
3. See what happens.
